Iceland in a nutshell
On this ride, you experience the extensive lava fields and volcanoes of the Reykjanes peninsula and also the dramatic landscapes of the South Iceland on horseback. We ride around the extinct volcano Helgafell, that holds cultural and historical significance formed by an eruption under a glacier late in the Ice Age. Some people believe it is a sacred site because of the name translates to Holy Mountain. The landscape is moon like and moss covered lava.
We ride through moss-covered lava fields and moon like landscapes. Along the way, we pause at several caves, offering views as distant as Snæfellsnes on clear days. The ride covers approximately 15 kilometers over three hours. Following a picnic lunch, you have the option to join a whale-watching boat tour or simply relax and enjoy a free afternoon in Reykjavik. Our shuttle will then transport you south to the Grimstadir farm.
At Grimsstadir we saddle up and experience the ocean breeze as you ride the Icelandic horse across the black sand beaches of Iceland. Enjoy the views of glaciers and Westmann Islands. Our Bakkakot Farm guides, experts in Icelandic horses, will ensure a memorable ride along this pristine black coastline. This riding journey offers an unforgettable glimpse of the natural beauty of Iceland.
Round up your tour with optional whale watching or a Spa visit in the Sky Lagoon
