Day 1: The Sky is the limit
We pick you up in Reykjavik at 11 am and drive to the stables where we have a picnic lunch. Then we find the perfect horse for each rider and have an introduction on how to ride on an Icelandic horse. Now we are ready to start the adventures. Our ride takes us through fields of lupins and ancient lava fields. The paths are nice and easy, so we get to tölt with the horses most of the track. (app. 3 hours, 15 km) After the ride we visit the Sky lagoon for a soak and amazing views from the infinity pool (optional, add to your booking). Transfer (individual) to the hotel in Hafnarfjördur and dinner there.
Day 2: Around the volcano
After breakfast we head out riding again, we enjoy the scenery and we will see Mt. Helgafell (338 m), it is located in a active volcanic region with the last eruption in the 13th or 14th century. We ride through moss covered lava fields and past volcanoes. This ride takes us through moon like landscapes and blueberry covered hills. We stop at some caves and can see as far as Snæfellsnes on a clear day on our way back. (app. 3 hours, 15 km)
After a picnic lunch you can embark on a boat for a whale watching tour (optional, add it to your booking) or just enjoy a free afternoon in Reykjavik. At 17:30 our transfer will pick you up and drive you up North to the farm in Snæfellsnes, where the adventure continues. You join another group there for a hearty home cooked dinner and can soak in the hut tub.
Day 3. Let the sea set you free
For the next two days we will be riding with a big herd of loose running horses and change horses during the day. We enjoy a great day on the beach, with the sea on our right side and mountain panorama to our left. We tölt through the dunes and cross tidal rivers. (approx. 29 km or 5 hours)
Day 4. Where lava and water meet
Another stunning day at the Atlantic Ocean. The sand turns black as we follow the outline of the Eldborg lava field. The coast is rugged and we ride through vast, spectacular fjords at low tide and cross rivers on the way. Watch out for eagles on the rocks and horses running free in the dunes! After an Imbiss at the farm we bring you back to Reykjavík. (approx. 33 km or 5-6 hours)
Return to Reykjavik in the evening (back at app. 21:30)
