Horses in Icelandic Art

An exhibition worth visiting for horse lovers!

Reykjavík Art Museum – Kjarvalsstadir Exhibition:
Jór! Horses in Icelandic Art

The horse has been an important subject to Icelandic artists from the beginning, either as the centre focus in a painting or as a supporting role in landscape paintings.

On show are oil paintings and three dimensional works by Iceland’s most distinguished artists from the beginning of the 20th century to present day, presenting the horse from different angles.

On display until August 21. The exhibition is curated by art historian Adalsteinn Ingólfsson.

Testimonials

The horses were friendly, calm, and delightful to ride. We spent most of the trip walking, but occasionally put the horses into a little trot which was exhilarating and just a little scary! I highly recommend this tour (Day Tour at the Riding Center), and I would love to do it again. This was one of the highlights of our amazing trip to Iceland.
